FEMALE CONDOM FAILS -GHANA

female condom
In the Ghanaian society, females shy away from the use of condoms unlike the men. Female Condom gives women control and choice over their own sexual health.

Women can protect themselves when their partners do not want to use a male condom. It is the third most common form of contraceptive, following the use of pills and tubal ligation.

The female condom has suffered from a bad reputation. The difficulty in it use, fear of it bursting or getting stuck into the womb and other subjective reasons have led to the shunning away from the female condoms by the Ghanaian women.
Research shows that if women always use the female condom correctly only 5% of it users will report unexpected pregnancy each year.

Before opening the packet containing a female condom, it must be squeezed gently between the fingers for it to be properly lubricated. The packet must be opened gently from the top at the point of an arrow downwards using the finger rather than a pair of scissors, knife or blade.
Furthermore, the ring at the lower end of the condom should be squeezed into an eight shape and pushed gently into the vagina using the finger lying down or raising one’s leg in a standing position. The upper end of the condom must cover the outer skin of the vagina properly.

Authorities must do something about it and also give new popularity to the female condom, the same way male condom has gained grounds. Sales of female condoms have been disappointing in developed countries.
